Think Tank by BERC Testimonials

Our 2nd Center is
Now Open for Business!!

Alexandria, Virginia

Owners and operators of BabyFe BiLingual Learning Center (Bowie, MD) the Coggins family of Maryland, stated:

Our company is committed to helping children succeed in education.  Being ready for today’s global economy by providing them with quality instruction in English, Spanish, and mathematics.

Our work is to produce youngsters who are prepared for kindergarten, and we take pride in this fact.  We believe by equipping children with the skills they’ll use for kindergarten and beyond, we promote community cohesion while honoring diversity.  Our first center, located in Bowie, Maryland, is a success.  After the success of our first one in Bowie, Maryland, our passion took us to replicate a second center exploring a site in DC, Maryland, or Virginia.

A church friend advised us about a BERC Think Tank event, where we could connect with a network of professionals and expand upon the blueprint of our Bowie, MD facility.  The “Be Bankable” Think Tank by BERC event took place in person in July 2023, and we were able to make it.

After going, all I could think and say was, “Wow! This Network really works”.  At the BERC Think Tank network event, we were able to secure a substantial offer for a downpayment on our new location, in addition to the necessary information to proceed with our proposal.   After a smooth Grand Opening in January of 2024, we are pleased to announce that BabyFe Bilingual Learning Center in Alexandria, VA is now open for business!!  Much obliged, BERC experts. “You are so awesome!”

A Bear in Deleware

Joesph Wright (Bear, DE), Army Veteran and business entrepreneur, says;

In July of 2022, I recruited my first employees and celebrated our grand opening.  A relative who came to support me recommended the Black Enterprise Resource Center (BERC). She encouraged me to surround myself with experts and business-building professionals to be successful.  I wanted my business to be successful so badly and I was so excited.  I hoped to leave my kiddos a legacy in business and the knowledge I had gained from it.

I eagerly participated in my first Think Tank by BERC meeting.  My story of starting and growing my first real business was heard by all.  The attorneys and 20-year business people on the line could tell I was excited, and they were too until we discussed my company contract and the serious worries about the hazards ahead.

My cousin was right; I’m pleased that I decided to join this organization.  With a family and a college-aged daughter, I was able to stave off the possibility of losing everything because I did not consider the fine print.   I failed to notice the cement wall rapidly approaching since I was very thrilled to establish a business.   The BERC Think Tank’s recommendations are much appreciated, I listened to them and got out in time.  Next time, I will be prepared.

Lisa P. Cohen (Washington, DC), former “Women’s World Championship Boxer,” says;

When I was considering launching a women’s boxing club in 2021, I had second thoughts.  It was still a hot CoVid time and who starts a business during Covid? Well, I learned me when I went to one of the Black Enterprise Resource Center’s (BERC) virtual think tanks after hearing about it from a friend.

 Everyone else was contributing so effectively to that Zoom call, I was hesitant to ask a question until the very end.

After I expressed my thoughts, I received immediate feedback and the means to get my own “TooFierce” mobile workout truck and all the necessary equipment.  The opportunity to express my gratitude to BERC for making available these tools was limited.  This testimonial is my “Thank you” our community needs BERC.
